Kawartha Recycle Depot

Recycle depot’s mission is to contribute to and encourage the preservation and renewal of the Earth's natural resources and to support low-income families to build, remodel and repair their homes.

Construction and demolition waste make up 20% of landfill sites.  Deconstruction is an ecologically sound alternative to demolition, often removing 80% of material from the waste stream; much of Recycle depots used lumber comes from homes or outbuildings slated for renovation or demolition.  Recycle depot can give you an estimate on the cost of system-atically dismantling your building or removing selected items before demolition or remodeling.  We may elect to do a one-day strip of easy-to-remove items at no charge prior to your scheduled demolition date.

The purpose of the Recycle depot is to ensure that items which would normally be put in the garbage are available for use by others. Items brought to the Centre are placed in appropriate areas where they can be sold to others for reuse.

We will accept anything in usable condition, subject to assessment by our receivers. If you are bringing items to the Reuse Centre for disposal, please make sure these items are clean, in working order and are usable.

We do not accept hazardous wastes including dry and wet cell batteries, liquid and solid forms of fuel, propane tanks, used lubricants, cleaning materials and related compounds, any form of clothing, dirty or soiled rugs, mattresses, tires, out of compliance children's car seats, cribs and bassinets.
